God’s Favor (Session 7)
Those Pure in Heart
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Matthew 5:8
Episode Summary
In this session on the Sermon on the Mount, we explore Jesus’ sixth Beatitude: “God’s favor is on the pure in heart, for they will see God.” Jesus challenges the emphasis on outward religious purity and instead points to the transformation of the heart. Drawing on the Pharisees’ focus on ritual purity, the teachings of Micah, and the work of the Holy Spirit, this video examines why genuine faith begins on the inside and ultimately shapes how we live on the outside.
What does it mean to “see God”? This session traces that biblical theme from the presence of God in the Old Testament to Jesus as the one who makes God known, showing how purity of heart is connected to living in relationship with God. Rather than simply following external rules, Jesus calls his followers toward an inward transformation that produces justice, mercy, humility, and a life increasingly shaped by the presence of God.
