God’s Favor (Session 4)
Those Oppressed
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
Episode Summary
This session continues the Beatitudes by exploring why Jesus calls the meek—not the powerful, dominant, or self-sufficient—blessed. It offers a deeper understanding of meekness as patient, hopeful endurance: not weakness or passivity, but the strength to trust God and persevere through circumstances that cannot yet be changed. Drawing on Moses, Psalm 37, and Jesus’ message to an oppressed people, this video explores what it means to trust that God’s kingdom will ultimately overcome the empires and powers of the world.
We’ll also look at how meekness transforms the way we live. To be meek is to place our anxieties, plans, relationships, work, and circumstances in God’s hands while continuing to work toward the realization of God’s kingdom. The promise that “the humble will inherit the earth” becomes a message of hope and empowerment: God’s favor is upon those who endure, trust, and remain faithful even when they find themselves in positions of weakness.
